I started this journey into the world of leather work without any real aspiration to turn it into a full-fledged business, and if I am honest, I still don’t aspire to this. I love leatherwork and I get to do it in my free time, at my own place, for my own pleasure. Turning my love for leatherwork into a job doesn’t seem like a lot of fun, so I think I will stick with what’s working. Plus, I actually have the best job in the world (for real).
Leather is an expensive hobby, and the reality is, one person can only have so many purses (don’t tell my mother this), that is why this website exists. Though I am not selling my bags online at this time, I hope to do so in the future, but still at my own pace, only making bags that I love.
My plan for growing SK Leather Co. into a viable side hustle is to start small, find my niche, and take the progression one step at a time. Step one will be starting with Plymouth Art in the Park on July 7-9th, 2023 in Plymouth, MI. I have been accepted to this show but I am awaiting my booth assignment and I will sure to update this post when I have more information.
After that, I plan on moving into the online world, at which time I will convert this site into something more than just a showcase for my work. That’s all I have for now, but I will keep you all updated as SK Leather Co. continues to evolve.
